We are Jane and Paul Jones, owner-directors and financial planners at Mackenzie Financial Planning.

We are proud to have developed the firm over 15 years, to the point where we have been awarded Chartered Financial Planning firm status by the Chartered Insurance Institute, and Accredited Firm status by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.
We are both Chartered Financial Planners (CII) and Certified Financial Planner ProfessionalsTM (CISI), which puts us amongst the most qualified financial planners in the UK.
Paul is a true financial planning artist. As a natural coach (in his free time he coaches an under-10s football team), he has an instinctive understanding of how to work with clients to gently move them along the right path, in a way that is completely comfortable for them, and consistently supports them to achieve their best outcomes. He is unflappable in the face of clients’ worries, tension and sometimes seemingly insurmountable problems. He draws the clients out of themselves, helps them to see their problems as challenges, and switches their mindset to one of feeling supported and confident. They tell him things they haven’t ever spoken out loud; use him as a sounding board for their ambitions. They come to financial planning meetings year after year; recommend us to friends and family. They sleep at night knowing that their financial affairs are in good hands.
I’m the scientist (in my free time I’m studying a Masters Degree in Psychology). I want to understand the how and why of everything. I like to construct an efficient process, create a checklist, finesse and fine tune my systems. I’m the logistician who puts the framework in place for Paul to focus on our clients, whilst at the same time I ensure that we are a profitable business, working within the UK financial services regulatory framework.
Our evolution into the psychology of financial planning is my initiative. I have achieved the highest standards of professional qualification in my profession, and yet I feel there is something fundamental missing from the study for these qualifications; whilst a comprehensive technical understanding of tax, investments, pensions etc is essential in my role, by far the greatest component is a client’s financial success is the personal element – the client themselves and how the financial planner coaches them to achieve the best outcomes. I have searched within the industry to find a robust evidence-based framework to enable me to study this element, and have found it in the programme delivered by Dr Charles and Dr Brad.
I am proud to be one of the first in the UK to hold the Psychology of Financial Planning Specialist award, and passionate about giving others the opportunity to access this amazing programme. For those like myself who need evidence, systems and a ‘why’ to help us understand clients, and coach them effectively, this programme is the gold standard.
